As part of our role as the ESA Technology Broker for the UK we have been presented with various technologies that could find applications in the space sector.
UK-based technology company, Quaisr has developed a SimOps platform that provides digital twin solutions that integrate simulations with artificial intelligence (AI). Already available to industries including aerospace, defence, pharmaceuticals, and consumer packaged goods, Quaisr are now keen to expand their offering to the space sector too.
The digital twin system can be used for process optimisation, predictive maintenance, and workflow automation, improving decision-making and efficiencies. Bringing together real time and historical data, the SimOps platform allows users to simulate, predict, and optimise the performance of systems, assets, and processes.
Digital twins serve as virtual replicas of physical systems, saving costs and allowing for the monitoring, simulation and prediction of various outcomes in alignment with different conditions. Because the data streams and simulation models are integrated, it is possible to apply continuous updates to ensure there is an accurate reflection of the current state of physical assets and systems.
The customisable system offers flexibility while the easy-to-use interface means that non-specialist users can utilise the platform. The system also records every model, workflow and dataset involved in the decision-making process, creating a detailed audit trail for transparency and compliance purposes.
Space Applications
There are a number of potential applications for the system in the space industry, including for spacecraft and satellite operations, mission planning and execution, spacecraft design and testing, satellite constellation optimisation, space station and habitat management, and space resource utilisation.
